GREENVILLE- Alyre J. Chasse, 93, died March 5, 2013, at Orono Commons. He was born February 7, 1920, in Claire, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Alfred and Alice (Saucier) Chasse.

Alyre moved to Greenville at the age of 18, and served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theater. He worked for Atlas Plywood Company in Greenville, and later for Great Northern Paper Company, until his retirement in 1982.

He was a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church in Greenville, and was a member of the American Legion Post in Greenville. He enjoyed music and played many instruments.

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Kozlowski) Chasse of Lyman; a son, Roger Chasse and his wife, Joyce of Orrington; 2 daughters, Ellie Lizotte and her partner, Kendell Campbell of Hampden, and Katie Gallant and her husband, Mitch of Hermon; 5 grandchildren, Todd, Troy, Randy, Ron, and Lisa; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion (O'Leary) Chasse; a son, Alfred Chasse; 4 brothers, Conrad, Alcide, Gerard, and Phil; and 3 sisters, Aurora, Ida, and Bertha.

A Mass of Christian burial will celebrated at a later date at Holy Family Catholic Church in Greenville, with burial in the Greenville Cemetery.
