Denise M. Raid Obituary (1956

RIPLEY, Denise M. Raid of Ripley, Maine and formerly of Rindge, New Hampshire and Montrose, Iowa, died at home on November 12, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 53 years old. Born on September 24, 1956 in Sacremento, CA, she was the daughter of John Hickey and Carol Slavik. She was raised in St. Paul, MN, where many family members still reside. Denise was well known and loved for her generosity, kindness, and authenticity. A lover of the outdoors, she enjoyed snowmobiling, hiking, gardening, fishing, boating, and spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her former husband, James L. Raid; her grandmother Maryann Slavik, her father John Hickey, her step-father Joseph Garcia, her sisters Paula Garcia and Cheryl Garcia, and her brother-in-law Robert Raid. Denise is survived by her fiance and partner of 16 years, Marc Kendrew; her son, Ivan James Raid; her daughter and son-in-law, Heather Garcia Queen and Andrew Queen; her step-daughter, Angela Raid Bonar; her grandchildren Quintin Bonar, Rian Queen, Sophia Queen and Madeline Queen; her mother, Carol Slavik Roubik; her sister Rayann Roubik Lily; her brother and sister-in-law Rick and Stacey Garcia; her aunt Roseann Slavik; and her uncle John Slavik; sister-in-law Jean Lacke; mother-in-law Dorothy Raid; mother-in-law Susan Peterson; sister-in-law Sherry Kendrew Liles; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gary and Tammy Kendrew Lemieux; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends and her five Labrador companions.
