RIPLEY - Doris A. Clukey, 79, wife of Ronald Clukey, lost her battle with Alzheimer's on September 1, 2012 with her family by her bedside. \n\nShe was born August 5, 1933 in Greenville a daughter of Milton "Reat" and Ruth (Forbus) Stanchfield. She graduated from Monson Academy as valedictorian, an accomplishment for which she was very proud. After moving to Dexter, she was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church. Doris worked at Dexter Shoe Company before moving into retail sales. She retired as manager of the Maine State Liquor Store in Dexter - another accomplishment for which she was very proud. \n\nDoris loved people and enjoyed interacting with them. Ron and Doris danced for many years in the Lords and Ladies Square Dance Club. They also enjoyed camping for many years with special friends Bud and Ginny Ellms. Doris was active in the Duster's Antique Auto Club and enjoyed the trips with Ron in their 1950 Chrysler they called the Burgundy Beauty. Doris also loved being around the grandchildren and great grandchildren teaching them songs that their parents never would have. She was always saying they were making memories and her grandchildren and great grandchildren have many happy memories of their "Nani". She enjoyed sitting on the shore of Ripley Pond looking at the view. Ron would say to her "look at that Dor, isn't that beautiful". \n\nShe was active in the Red Hat Society and also involved in Maine Day in Barefoot Bay, Florida where they resided in the winter. They shared a love that was envied by many. Ron and Doris recently celebrated 60 years of marriage with a party at Hibbard Nursing Home with all the family present.\n\nIn addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Stuart and wife Jackie Clukey of Milford, and daughter Cheryl and husband Steve Burton of Ripley. She was "Nani" to Tricia Cesena and husband Dominic and their children Taylor-Jo and Kyleigh, Erin Burton and her companion Carlos and their children Madison, Aiden, Rayna, Gage and Gwen, all of Ripley. She is also survived by a special sister in law, Marion Stanchfield of Bingham; many nieces and nephews. \n\nShe was predeceased by her infant brother Norman, brothers Lamont and Wesley Stanchfield, and sister Jewell Bjork.\n\nGraveside services will be held at 10 AM Friday, September 14th, at Ferndale Cemetery, Ripley.\n\nThe family would like to recognize all of the people in the special care unit of Hibbard Nursing Home for their excellent care of Doris. They were caring, compassionate people. Also we would like to thank the many nurses at Mayo Regional Hospital that were there every minute taking care of her in her last days treating her with the utmost dignity and respect. \n\nArrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 383 U.
