ABBOT - Elizabeth M. (Mitchell) Bickford, 90, passed peacefully March 2, 2011 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. \n\nShe was born August 16, 1920 in Abbot, a daughter of Lester and Edith (Perkins) Mitchell. She graduated from Guilford High School, Class of 1939. She married Ivory Bickford on July 1, 1939 after graduation. \n\n"Lizzy" was a wonderful homemaker and longtime employee of Moosehead Manufacturing in Monson. She was a 50 year member of the Pythian Sisters of Abbot, the American Legion Auxiliary of Guilford, the Monson Sunshine Club, and the Abbot Historical Society.\n\nShe is survived by 4 sons, Collin and wife Karen, Robert and Mark, all of Abbot, and James of Lincoln; 4 grandchildren, Carl and wife Jennifer Bickford of Dover-Foxcroft, Wendy and husband Frank Cupero of Parkman, Beth-Ann White of Monson, William and Kelly Bickford of Brownville Junction; 3 great grandchildren, Cassidy Cupero, Grace and Elijah Bickford; a sister, Harriet Mitchell of Abbot; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.\n\nShe was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 60 years, 4 brothers, Theodore, Russell, Maynard and Seldon, 2 sisters, Addie Mitchell and Donna (Mitchell) Fogg.\n\nFriends may call from 6-8 PM Sunday, March 6th, at Crosby & Neal, Oak Street, Guilford, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday with the Rev. Stephen Dean officiating.\n\nSpring burial will be in Abbot Village Cemetery.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Abbot Historical Society, P. O. Box 105, Abbot, ME 04406.
