Ernest "Bart" Harvey III Obituary (1942

MILLINOCKET AND GREENVILLE- Ernest B. "Bart" Harvey III, 68, died October 30, 2010, in Shirley, surrounded by his family. He was born April 8, 1942, son of Ernest and Erma (Sawyer) Harvey II. He graduated from Greenville High School, class of 1960, and from the University of Maine in Orono, with a BS degree in Forestry, and a MS degree in Forest Economics. He served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers, receiving a Bronze Star for his service in Viet Nam. Bart lived in Millinocket for 40 years, where he worked for Great Northern Maine Paper Company for over 30 years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Millinocket, serving as Trustee, Deacon, choir member, and sang with a group called Revelation. He was also member and past chairman of the Millinocket Regional Hospital Board of Directors. He was a member of the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission for ten years, and served as Chairman for six years. He was also an active member of the Society of American Foresters, and was an active participant in the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation. Bart enjoyed boating and sailing on Moosehead Lake. He also enjoyed traveling and was an accomplished woodworker. He is survived by a son, Robert Harvey and his wife, Robbin, and their two children, Allison and Ashley all of Rhinelander, WI; a daughter, Jan Barbas and her husband, Tom and their children, Emma and Jake, all of Woburn, MA; 2 sisters, Keyth Carter and her husband, Charles of Shirley, and Kay Macklin and her husband, Dr. John Macklin of Waterville; a sister-in-law, Kathy Murray, and her husband, Darryl of Greenville; and mother-in-law, Bernice Smith of Greenville; loving friend, Patsy Watt of Belfast, and her 3 daughters, Sharon Gallardo, Katie Watt, and Patty Watt; and grandson, Brandon; and many special aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Emilynn J. "Kitty" Harvey, in 2002. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday November 3, 2010, at the Union Church in Greenville. Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, November 4th, at the church with Dr. Robert L. Veon officiating. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery at a later date.
