DEXTER - Galen H. Farrar, 82, died November 17, 2012, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, surrounded by family, friends, and a wonderful hospital staff. He was born August 23, 1930, in Dexter, the son of Harold and Ruth (Call) Farrar. \n\nHe attended Dexter schools and graduated from N.H. Fay High School.\n\nMost of his years were spent doing carpentry work and farming. He traveled throughout the state working on building constructions and installing cabinets, and these sites became the focus of family outings. Uncountable hours were spent at "the Farrar farm" on the Dover Road. He cherished all living things, but his favorites were cows, gladiolas, and children.\n\nHe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn (Foley) Farrar of Dexter; a son, Bryant Farrar and Cassady Regan of Dexter; a daughter, Gail Reid and Paul Whitney of Plymouth; two sisters, Helen Edgerly of Dexter, and Ethlyn Langley of Presque Isle; a brother, Roger Farrar of Dexter; beloved granddaughters, Krystyna and Hannah Farrar, both of Dexter; many special cousins, nieces and nephews; and wonderful neighbors, Judy and Larry Robichaud.\n\nHe was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Farrar.\n\nFamily and friends may call from 3 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM, with a Celebration of Galen's life at 7 PM, Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street in Dexter. \n\nA committal is planned for the spring of 2013. \n\nDonations in Galen's honor will be accepted by the Dexter Historical Society, Box 481, Dexter, ME 04930.
