ELLSWORTH and DEXTER - James D. Higgins, 86, died January 3, 2022 in Rockland. He was born June 14, 1935 in Boston, MA, a son of Henry and Jennie (Tupper) Higgins. He graduated from Dexter High School, Class of 1953 and served in the U. S. Army. He was a past member of the Garland Grange. Jim was predeceased by his wife Margaret on September 15, 2021.\n\nHe is survived by his daughter, Joan Higgins of Ellsworth; his son Mark Higgins and wife Allyson Sorenson of Bangor; 9 grandchildren, Rebecca Prefontaine and wife Jessica, Jennifer Guildford and partner Dave Gow, Travis Higgins and partner Kyffin Dolliver, Jared Brown, Corey Brown, Danielle Carter, Hallee Sorenson, Madeline Tuite, and Jessica Higgins; 4 great-grandchildren, Carlos, Aaliyah, and Levi Prefontaine and Abel Higgins. He will also be remembered by close friends Robert Ness and Robert Anderson.\n\nA spring graveside committal service will be held at the West Garland Cemetery.
