DEXTER - Jane M. Gilbert, loving wife and mother, born May 10, 1936 in Dexter left to dwell with the Lord on June 19, 2018. She was the loving wife of Graydon J. Gilbert since October 23, 1954, and was the daughter of J. Robert and Alberta (Poulin) Bennett.

She was a lifelong member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharist minister, council member, bereavement committee member and belonged to the reception team. Jane was a member of the Jr. Extension, Jay-c-ettes, Dexter Women's Literary Club, Maine Federation of Women, General Federation of Women's Clubs and the Sunshine Club, holding offices in many of these. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, knitting and quilt making and was an avid reader completing the (ESO) Epsilon Sigma Omicron reading list of the GFWC. She also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, writing poetry and spending time with her family.

Jane was the proud mother of 4 daughters: Sheryl Vigue of Dexter, Holly Gilbert of Biddeford, Ivy Gilbert of Lake Mary, Florida and Stacy Viola of Gray, as well as a son Derick, who predeceased her. She has 8 grandchildren: Michael, Donald and Cassandra Vigue, Shane Clukey and wife Danielle, Jaime Gable and husband Christopher, Kristopher Gilbert-Vigue, Kailyn Pollard and husband Cade, and Olivia Viola. She also has ten great grandchildren: Robert and Lilly Serrano, Taylor Rich, Kierney and Keaton Gable, Garrett and Laura Clukey, Everlyn and Kit Pollard and Matthew Viola. She is also survived by 2 brothers: Gayland "Sonny" and wife Betty, Barry and wife Anne Bennett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Saturday, June 30th, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Fr. Mark Nolette officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
