GUILFORD- Family and friends share the loss of Jean Bigelow (Libby) Haley. Jean was born on June 21, 1921 at 155 Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA, the second daughter of James Gray Libby and Amy Bigelow Libby, and the sister to Josephine Gray Libby Wakefield. Jean entered eternal life on January 10, 2012 at home in Boylston, MA.\n \n\nJean married George Emery Haley on March 21, 1940 (her husband of 54 years). \n\nJean is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kathleen Haley of Cherry Valley, MA; and a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and William Richardson of Boylston, MA; grandchildren, Heather-lyn Haley, Hilarie Haley, Heidi Haley Young and Steven Haley; second generation grandchildren, Alisha Young Zimmerman, Jacob Young and Bridget, Edward, Madeline, Brooke, and Fiona Haley; third generation grandsons, Zachary and Zander Zimmerman; one sister-in-law, and many dear nieces and nephews.\n \n\nJean lived her teen years in Billerica, MA, and with her husband George lived in Lowell, MA from 1940 to 1943, in Guilford, ME from 1943 to 1960, in Worcester, MA from 1960 to 1971, in Kulpmont, PA from 1971 to 1979, in Guilford, from 1979 to 1997, and moved to Boylston, MA after George's passing to live near her children. Jean was known for her loving nature, generous hospitality and optimistic energy. She enjoyed a wonderful network of family and friends in her beloved town of Guilford, and in the central Massachusetts area. She was famous for her baked fruit pies and making berry preserves. Many organizations benefited from her endless capacity to give. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, crocheting, oil painting, solving crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, and tending to the needs of her cats over the years. Jean greeted each day with a smile. She was always thankful for the life she was given - sharing times with beloved family members and wonderful friends. \n \n\nA funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 2:30 pm at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak Street in Guilford with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. \n\nFriends may call at the funeral home from 1:30 pm until the time of the service at 2:30 pm. Spring interment will be at the Lawn Cemetery on Elm Street in Guilford, next to George and her Haley in-laws. \n\nThe family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Guilford United Methodist Church (attn: George and Jean Haley Book Scholarship Fund), P.O.
