ST. ALBANS- Joan P. Cooney, 64, died, November 30, 2012, at the Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 18, 1948, on the Beans Corner Road in Hartland, the daughter of Basil and Florice (Perkins) Clowry. Joan will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother "Mimi", and friend. She was a great cook and took great pride in preparing and sharing meals with family and friends. Joan enjoyed spending time at the family camp sitting by the fire watching the moon and stars. She took joy in dancing, singing, gardening, sewing and long afternoons relaxing in the sun. Joan spent a great deal of time with her grandchildren with whom she shared her passion for cookies, Moxie and vampires. Joan took pleasure in sharing memories, laughter and tears with her family and friends. Joan began her working career at Northeast Shoe in Pittsfield, from there she went to Church Goods also in Pittsfield. She transitioned to RSU# 19 working in food services, and later retired from the Dexter Shoe Company in October of 1997. She is survived by her husband, George Cooney; a daughter, Sandy Bussell and her husband, Craig; a son, Mike Cooney and his fiance, Kristen Forrest; grandchildren, Dakota, Devin and Mikayla Bussell and Makenzie and Maya Cooney, all of St. Albans; a nephew, Rick Clowry and his wife, Rodena of Harmony; special friends, Deb, Randy, Richard, Sandra, Robin, Tonya, Alice, and Bill, all from the Ripley, St. Albans area. Joan was predeceased by her beloved parents; a brother, Floyd Clowry; and a nephew, Brent Clowry; who all left us way too soon. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for a scholarship fund in her memory.
