GREENVILLE AND PUNTA GORDA, FL - John M. "Jack" Goodwin, 80, died November 8, 2013, at his home in Punta Gorda, FL. He was born in Boston, MA, January 22, 1933, the son of Chester and Leona (McKnight) Goodwin.\n\nA true entrepreneur of many businesses, Jack began his first business in Kingston, N.H. selling grain & coal in the late 50's. He continued in business with his father Chet Goodwin as Moulton & Goodwin on Deer St. in Portsmouth, N.H. Over time, this became Goodwin Feed & Supply and Goodwin Oil Company. Later, Jack spent much of his time in Greenville, ME where he developed the subsidized housing projects in the area known as Chieftain Heights, the Highlands, and Milo Heights. He was also the past owner of both Indian Hill Trading Post and Goodwin Real Estate in Greenville. \n\nJack was an avid snowmobiler, hunter and fisherman. Labrador, Canada was his favorite fishing spot, where he and his friend, Kevin Adams, traveled frequently via a Lake Amphibian. They were also the first two Americans to fish for salmon in the Ponoy River in Russia. \n\nIn recent years, Jack spent his summers at his beloved Moosehead Lake in Beaver Cove, and his winters in Punta Gorda, FL.\n\nHe was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Nancy Cass.\n\nHe is survived by his wife, Robin (Woodward) Goodwin of Punta Gorda, FL and Greenville, ME; a son, Russ Goodwin of Capitan, NM; a daughter, Sheri Couto of Ridgway, CO; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 nephews, Brad Cass of Daytona, FL, and Greg Cass of Alfred; a cousin, Bette Curry of Old Orchard Beach; 3 stepsons, Andrew Patterson of South Berwick, Charles Shejen of Kittery; and a stepdaughter, Sharon Navarro of Kittery.\n\nVisitation will be held Thursday, November 14th, from 1 to 3 PM, at the Greenville Chapel of Crosby & Neal, located at the Masonic Building, followed by a reception and celebration of his life at his home at 684 Black Point Road in Beaver Cove. \n\nPrivate burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery. \n\nIn lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Moosehead Fishing Coalition, P.O.
