Joseph L. Vance

NEWPORT – Joseph Lincoln Vance, 79, passed away December 29, 2023 at a Pittsfield hospital surrounded by his family. He was born January 8, 1944 in Pawtucket, RI a son of Henry and Geneva (Russell) Vance.

Joe attended Newport schools. After living in Alaska and New Hampshire he returned to Newport where he was employed and retired from the Newport Transfer Station.

He is survived by five children, Debbie Stanclift, Ronald, Joey and Michael Vance, all of Derry, NH, and Shirley Blackmon of Fort Walton, FL; his brother David and wife Shirley of Newport; his sisters, Linda Jackson of Newport and Georgieanna McKenney of Hartland; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather George Smith and two sisters, Elizabeth and Sonya Sue.

There will be a celebration of life at 1 P.M. Saturday, January 27th, at the American Legion Hall, North Street, Newport
