GUILFORD- Marshall T. Gilbert, 87, died April 6, 2013, at Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft, surrounded by his family. He was born September 17, 1925, in Dexter, the son of Thomas and Nathalie (Jock) Gilbert.\n\nHe served in the US Navy during WWII, serving on the USS Wasp in the South Pacific Theater, and was a member of the American Legion. He worked for many years in the local area as a truck driver. \n\nHe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rachel (Cookson) Gilbert of Guilford; 3 sons, Thomas Gilbert and his wife, Andrea of Guilford, Frank Gilbert and his wife, Linda of Abbot, and Darrell Gilbert and his wife, Bonnie of Dexter; 3 daughters, Marsha Quimby and her husband, Randy of Cambridge, Linda Green of Dexter, and Deborah Bailey of Cambridge; a sister, Thomasina Blanchard of Stetson; a brother, Merle Gilbert and his wife, Jeannette of Parkman; 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.\n\nNo public services are planned at this time.\n\nThe family would like to thank the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home for their excellent care. \n\nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.\n\nArrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.
