GREENVILLE- Phyllis L. Howard, 78, died January 17, 2016, at C.A. Dean Hospital in Greenville. She was born July 20, 1937, the daughter of Charles and Blanche (Swift) Tobey.

She attended Cony High School and later graduated from Greenville High school. She worked as a cook at several of the local restaurants and later for C.A. Dean Hospital.

Family was very important to her. She was a loving wife and mother and cared deeply for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren always looked forward to the "treat dollars" that Nana always gave them.

She attended the Union Evangelical Church in Greenville and sang in the church choir.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth C. Howard of Greenville; 7 children; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister; 2 brothers; nieces and nephews.
