DEXTER- Rita B. (Goulette) Pooler Larson, 92, died November 25, 2011, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born March 2, 1919, in Dexter, daughter of Mahile and Edith (Corette) Goulette. \n\nRita married Maurice Pooler and had 3 sons. Rita raised her 3 boys in the Pooler family home on Free Street and lived there for 70 years. A couple of years ago she moved to Fairway Knolls, where she had many friends, and recently moved to Dexter Health Care, due to failing health.\n\nShe attended Dexter schools, and was employed at Plummer Memorial Hospital for years, retiring when the hospital closed. She loved her home and did much of the work around it into her 80's. She even loved to mow her own lawn. She was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter. Rita was a member of the Golden Age Club, and enjoyed taking dance classes. At the Senior Olympic Games, she won 3 Gold Medals.\n\nShe was predeceased by her first husband, Maurice Pooler in 1947 and her second husband, Sherwood Larson in 1973. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Pooler; a stepdaughter, Darlene Andrews; 2 brothers, Velair and Bernard; 3 sisters, Imogene Keene, Eleanor Mace, and Connie Tetu.\n\nShe is survived by 3 sons, Kenneth Pooler and his friend, Diana Warren, Carroll Pooler and his wife, Christine, and Douglas Pooler and his wife, Sheila, all of Dexter; a stepson, Sherwood Larson, Jr. and his wife, Brenda of FL; a brother, Rudolph Goulette and his wife, Althea of Dexter; a sister, Dorothy Graw of FL; a sister-in-law, Esther Goulette of Garland; a brother-in-law, Ralph Tetu of Bangor; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.\n\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM, Monday, November 28, 2011, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter, with the Rev. Fr. Kent Oullette, Celebrant. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter. \n\nArrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
