GUILFORD- Robert Mitchell "Bob" Pratley, 68, fondly known as "The Computer Guy", passed away at St. Joseph Hospital on November 22, 2015, after a long illness, and a very brave struggle. \nBob was born in Greenwich, CT, on June 20, 1947, son of James and Mary (Burke) Pratley. He was the youngest of 7 children, and the last surviving sibling. \n\nFrom a young age, Bob showed a talent for mechanics, engineering, and building. In 1964 at age 17 Bob entered the United States Navy. He served proudly as a flight engineer on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise in Viet Nam. He later completed his education, attended business school and started the first of many different careers. \n\nBob was a lifelong learner, and used his education, insight, talent and dexterity in many ways throughout his lifetime, including as pilot, store manager, long distance trucker, retail salesman, wood cutter, home builder, car repairman, and computer hobbyist. He was a very private man with a deep respect for life and a solid quiet faith. Bob had a generous heart and helped many families. He had a passion for the safeguarding of children, and a special way with animals. \n\nBob's greatest love was his own small family. His children, Greg and Morgan; and his wife of 38 years, Kirsty, will sorely miss his sound advice, dry humor and generous heart. Also never far from his thoughts were his granddaughter, Dionne Scannell of Georgia; and his daughter, Lisa Heydet of Florida. \n\nFriends are invited to call at the family home, 18 Pleasant Street, Guilford, Wednesday December 2nd, from 5 to 7 PM. \n\nArrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.
