DEXTER- Another angel, Secha Charlotte (Hinton) Mason, 92, went to be with her Lord and family members on September 4, 2017. She was born in Newport, February 20, 1925, the fourth child of twelve children, to Clarence "Papa" William Hinton and Susie A. (McKenney).

Secha was raised in Cambridge. She was attending high school in Dexter when she had to leave school to help her parents at home with her siblings. She was a mother to the younger ones mostly after her mother passed. She worked at Bath Iron Works as a weld cleaner in the shipyards, and also worked for the Edwards Company in Pittsfield where they lived for many years before moving to Skowhegan. In 2014 they moved to Dexter to live in her husband's childhood home. Secha married Glenn L. Mason on March 1, 1944 in Richmond, VA.

Secha was well known for her fabulous donuts and pies. She used to get up mornings and make plain and chocolate donuts and fry them off before going to work herself. Her husband, Glenn would take the donuts and sell them at Keyes Fibre, where he worked.

Secha was known to many in the family as "Nan" or "Nanny". She started the Hinton family annual reunion in 1985, which is still going on today. She also started the annual Memorial Day breakfast, where the family gathers and goes on to the family cemetery with flowers.

Secha loved to ride and drive motorcycles. She would be the first to hop on for a ride. Her favorite, of course, was an Indian. She also loved working outdoors in her flower beds or raking leaves or cleaning homes; it didn't matter, she was the happiest when busy.

Secha was predeceased by her husband, Glenn, of 70 years of marriage; her parents, William and Susie Hinton; her brothers, Clad and Jimmy Hinton; her sisters, Muriel Bailey, Evelyn Crowther, Madeline "Pat" Brochu, Nellie Dinsmore Palumbo, and Janice "Jana" Tweedie Hinton.

She is survived by her sisters, Beverly and husband Ernest Schmid, Julia Marica, Esther and husband Jim Chiddix, Ellen and husband James MacMichael; three daughters, Glenda Mae and husband Allen Corbin, Donna Jean, and Lorrie Jo and husband Daryl Dubay, whom were her caregivers for many years; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and several dear nieces and nephews.

At Secha's request, there will be no funeral services, only a graveside service and prayer at 1 PM, Friday, September 8, 2017 at Corinna Center Cemetery with Pastor Gary York officiating.

Memorial donations in honor of Secha may be sent to Community Health and Counseling Services Home Health & Hospice at 1093 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426.
