PALMYRA - Sudie Davis, 73, passed away peacefully July 14, 2017 at a Bangor hospital. \n\nShe was born November 5, 1943 in Newport, a daughter of William and Florence (Leavitt) Randall. Sudie went to Palmyra Grammar School the after the passing of both of her parents, she went to North Carolina to live with her Aunt Sudie. She graduated from high school in Shelby, North Carolina in 1961. Sudie married Walter "Pal" Davis in 1971 and they resided in Palmyra until his passing in 1998.\n\nShe worked at the Dexter Shoe Company in Newport before going to work at Guilford Woolen Mill where she worked for over 20 years prior to retirement. \n\nSudie had a "heart of gold" and was always there for anyone who needed her. She was our dependable "Aunt Sudie" and will be greatly missed by many. She also had a great compassion for animals. Cats and dogs were always an important part of her life. She was also a great cook and was often tuned into the cooking channels. She like to collect different recipes and cookbooks. According to many, no one made some dishes as good as our Aunt Sudie. \n\nIn 2011 she was faced with an unfortunate health issue, but she accepted it like a real trooper and was able to drive herself to treatments for nearly 6 years.\n\nShe is survived by and will always be loved by many nieces and nephews, several cousins in North Carolina and many close friends.\n\nShe was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter Davis, and three brothers and their wives, Charles and Jane Randall, Jack and Doris Randall and Robert and Winnie Randall.\n\nA private graveside committal will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
