GREENVILLE, ME - William Moyer Bush, Jr., 77, died peacefully Thursday evening, February 16, 2012, at his home on Moosehead Lake. Bill was born June 10, 1934, in Binghamton, NY, the only child of William M. and Elizabeth (Sisson) Bush.\n\nAfter graduating from Blair Academy and Lafayette College, Bill held a number of positions with Scott Paper Co., Wm. Underwood Co., W. R. Grace, and DTS, culminating as VP of Administration at Alpha Industries. He also served his country for seven years with the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry, a National Guard unit. \n\nIn 1984, Bill left the corporate world to own and operate the Four Corners Shopping Center in downeast Maine along with his family. After selling much of the shopping center in 2006, Bill and his wife, Jane, spent their winters in Hilton Head, SC, and their summers in Greenville, ME.\n\nAlways active in the communities where he lived, Bill was a member of the Portland Rotary, where he served as Program Chairman, and the Machias Rotary Club. He was a Trustee of the Down East Community Hospital, and served many years as its President. In recent years he served as a Corporator of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, and was active in the First Presbyterian Church in Hilton Head. \n\nHe was an avid skier, a labrador lover, and enjoyed golf, tennis, reading, and was a relentless fan of Boston sports teams. Bill loved weekend projects, including building his family's vacation home on Wilson Pond in Greenville. He will be remembered for his ability to make people laugh with his witticisms, his interest in and ability to befriend anyone anywhere, his business acumen, and as a loyal and devoted husband and father.\n\nBill is survived by his wife Jane (Jackson) of 45 years; a daughter Betsy in Anchorage, AK, and a son William, III (Billy) In Hong Kong; also dear sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and David Martin of Malvern, PA and Sally and Bob Schwabe of Westchester, PA.; four wonderful nephews, and his yellow lab Louie.\n\nA memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 22, at 10am at Faith United Methodist Church, 444 US Hwy 1, Columbia, ME.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Bill's memory to Faith United Methodist Church, PO Box 186, Columbia, ME 04623, or to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168. \n\nLocal arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Greenville.
